Human-centered AI infrastructure for teaching, learning, and collaborative thought.
Topoi is built on a simple idea: AI should strengthen human judgment, not replace it. Modern AI tools often assume a solitary loop—one user, one chatbot, one stream of answers. Topoi takes a different path: it treats AI as a participant inside human structures.
Inspired by the ancient rhetorical concept of topoi—the “places” where ideas live—Topoi aims to be a place where teachers, students, and collaborators can explore questions together with AI support, while preserving agency, transparency, and responsibility.
Real learning communities don’t operate as isolated prompts. They have roles, goals, norms, and boundaries. Topoi’s design is shaped around that reality: sessions with identifiable participants, role-aware collaboration, layered prompts, and tools for oversight.
A stable core + organizational defaults + session intent + (when needed) instructor or moderator interventions. The goal is guided inquiry—without surrendering control to a single magical prompt.
Usage and cost visibility should not be an afterthought. Topoi is being built with session-level and org-level accounting in mind—because sustainability requires economic clarity.
Topoi is being developed in public. The blog documents design decisions, architectural direction, and emerging use cases—from classrooms to research labs to developer-built AI applications.
If you are an educator, researcher, or application developer interested in structured, human-centered AI systems, I’d welcome the conversation.
